Q. Do I have to let my son drive my car for your training?
A: No, you can relax! For the basic training, we supply our corporate owned 2008 or newer Ford vehicles. They have dual control braking systems and another set of mirrors for the instructor. All our vehicles are fully insured, and always maintained in top driving condition. For our Advanced Driving Class your own automobile is recommended. We'd like to have your son or daughter learn how their own vehicle performs in different situations. If you do not have a vehicle, we can provide one for you.
Q: Can anyone take your Advanced Driving Class?
A: Yes. Anyone can take our defensive driving course, we even have a special for parents to participate with their teens. The techniques and vehicle dynamics we teach in the Advanced Class can be used by anyone driving on our streets today.
Q: My daughter completed an on-line course. I received a pink certificate of completion of driver's education. What do I need prior to going to DMV to take the written test?
A: You need a white certificate showing that you are enrolled in a licensed driving school. You can get this form from us. You will also need your daughter's original birth certificate and social security card. You can take a practice written test here. DMV also accepts appointments online - make an appointment with DMV.
Q: I have seen other driving schools charging less than Start Out Right, why?
A: Most driving schools out there only teach the minimum to help your teen pass the DMV driving test. Our cars are new, our instructors are the best, and we have the number one rated curriculum in California (National Driving Instructors Institute 5 Star Rating) All our instructors are law enforcement trained professionals, most with over 20 years experience on the street. Please call around, talk to other driving schools, call the DMV to find out who they recommend, and when you've heard enough, call us. Allow us to train your child to be thoroughly educated and trained in traffic laws and safe driving techniques. Your child's life is priceless, and nothing less than the very best will do.
Q: I'm still scared to get in the car with my daughter, even after all the hours we've put in together. She needs more time with the pros. Can we get extra lessons?
A: Of course extra lessons are available. Additionally, our instructors will recommend techniques to help you get at ease driving with your daughter. Just let us know what areas she needs help in, and we'll make sure to put special emphasis on those. Click here to register.
Q: Do you teach driving in a manual 5 speed (stick shift) car?
A: Yes, we have a manual transmission training vehicle available. But make your appointments early! Its our most popular car
Q: Do you teach senior citizens?
A: Yes- we have a new LifeStyles in Motion course, which is a "senior driving comfort level course". That, together with a couple of behind the wheel lessons with our instructors, should help you keep that "sharp edge" on the street, and make passing the DMV test a breeze. Call us for details at 1-888-367-0813.
Q: I'm afraid to drive on the freeway. Can you help?
A: Freeway driving is one of the easier aspects of driving, although many people are very nervous. We have instructors who have been with the California Highway Patrol for over 30 years, and specialize in freeway driving. They'll help you get the confidence and skills necessary to drive on any freeway, in any conditions, anywhere.
Q: Do you teach classroom sessions or have on-line classroom training?
A: We have both. Our classroom sessions are comprehensive and convenient. See the classroom training section for details. Our OnLine/Home Study course is the only one in California recommended by the NDII, the National Driving Instructors Institute. Both far exceed the California DMV requirements.
